New York, Burt, n.d. Small 8vo. 11 x 16 cm. full red cloth, gilt lettered and ruled, 300pp. 435pp. 2 columns. Earlier owner's ink note loosely enclosed. A very attractive, clean tight copy. Burt's was a New York publishing house from 1883 until 1937 founded by Albert Levi Burt. While working as a travelling salesman he had come to recognise the demand for inexpensive reference works. Burt's later became known for specialising in inexpensive children's and popular fiction.

Preceded in 1941 by a Slovak into German dictionary. Interesting Third Reich publication giving credence to the nominally independent Slovakia by affirming its distinct language and displaying its coat-of arms. .

Else a very good tight copy. Slovak into German pocket dictionary (followed in 1943 by its German into Slovak counterpart). Compiled by Jan Beniac and Josef Maria Seewarth. Stated fifth edition but possibly first thus and adapted from Holtze's Bohemian/Czech editions.
